Melbourne Victory Women have kept their finals hopes alive after a thrilling 1-0 win against Canberra United at Olympic Park today.

The rain and wind set in late in the game and it looked like it would finish with a draw.

The match provided many scoring opportunities for both teams; however, it was Katie Thorlakson in the 87th minute that was able to break the deadlock, deflecting the ball in after a goal mouth scramble.

Selin Kuralay and Westfield Player of the Match Katrina Gorry were lively up forward for the Victory all day, setting up numerous attacks on goal.

Canberra United’s keeper Lydia Williams was solid in goals, however dangerous forward, Shu O Seng was well held by Melbourne’s Maika Ruyter-Hooley.

Next week, Melbourne Victory travel to Perth to try to cement their spot in the finals.
