St Albans Strikers claim Futsal crown

Top goal scorer for the season, Irzard Spijodic.

The Open Men's Division of the Melbourne Futsal League ended in dramatic fashion on Saturday, with St Albans Strikers seeing off Cobras 8-7 to collect the trophy in extra time.

A five goal haul from Cobras and Victorian State team player Anthony Ramzy wasn’t enough to see off an impressive Strikers team that took an early three-goal lead.

Cobras battled back to take a two-goal lead with goals from Ramzy and Ernie Simsek, but the honours were even at the full time whistle with the teams locked at 7-7.

With a penalty shootout looming, St Albans grabbed the decisive goal in extra time to clinch victory.  Goals from Tom Grgic (2), Alija Redzepovic (3) and Irzad Spijodic (3) rounded off an impressive display from the Strikers.
