The structure of coach education across Australia is changing from 2010.
Football Federation Victoria (FFV) is aiming to have all club coaches accredited in the appropriate age group that they coach from 2010 onwards.
Past issues
- There were no records or ways to communicate with active coaches
- There were no incentives for active coaches to complete accredited coaching courses
- There was a lack of services offered to assist community coaches to further develop their skills
Objectives of Coach Education and Registration
- Increase the number of qualified male and female active coaches by offering more accessible and time friendly courses
- Easily identify and communicate with active and qualified coaches
- Provide a greater level of service to community club coaches that result in more talented Victorian coaches
How do we achieve these objectives?
- Team entry fees all include a $100 coach registration fee
- This fee is withdrawn if:
- the coach of each team is registered accordingly ($50)
- the registered coach has the appropriate level of accreditation or completes the accreditation before the end of the season ($50)
- Appropriately registered and accredited coaches gain membership to the FFV Coaches Association (FFVCA), which provides the following resources:
- member only webpage
- monthly e-newsletter
- Online coaches forum
- Monthly seminars
- Discount entry to the annual FFV Coaches Conference
The new structure
I coach 5-7 year olds - Entry Point -> Grassroots Certificate (3 hour FREE course for those coaching Optus SSF)
I coach 8-11 year olds - Entry Point -> Junior Licence (2 day course) - $99
I coach 12-15 year olds - Entry Point -> Youth Certificate 1 (1 day course - $88) -> Youth Certificate 2 (2 day course - $99) - Youth Licence (20 minute assessment - $66)
I coach Under 16’s or above - Entry Point -> Senior Certificate 1 (1 day course - $88) - Senior Certificate 2 (2 day course - $99) - Senior Licence (20 minute assessment - $66)
You no longer need to complete one course to move onto another, you start with the course that represents the age group you are coaching.
To register for a course simply visit www.footballfedvic.com.au then select ‘Coaching Courses’ from the menu tab.
If your club is interested in hosting a coaching course, please submit the attached ‘Coaching Course request form’.
