The Championship Series of the Victorian Champions League kicks off on Saturday in Shepparton for the Under 14 Boys division and promises to be an exciting and high scoring set of pool matches. The Under 14 Boys division has already shown plenty of talent to the scouts during the home and away season, and the boys are sure to prove themselves again over two hotly contested weeks of the Championship Series.
Sitting on top of the table are the Western Wolves, who have conceded only 8 goals thus far, but the squads placing second to sixth are hot on their heels and will be vying for a strong position in their pools to guarantee a successful second week of the Championship Series.
South East Cougars finished the regular season in second place, Central City FC finished third and the North West Wanderers came in fourth on 19 points. The Western Wolves will take on the Southern Blue Tongues and North East Diamonds in Pool A. Pool C will showcase the talents of Central City FC, Gippsland Knights and Northern Allstars, while Pool D sees the might of the North West Wanderers taking on Wimmera/South Coast Eagles and Rivers FC.
Loddon Mallee Lightning finished sixth in the Under 14 Boys and was the best placed Regional zone. They have been placed in a tough Pooll B, facing South East Cougars and Eastern FC who finished tenth.
Expect to see some goals from the Under 14 Boys Top Goal Scorer – Anthony Laus from the Wolves, who scored 16 goals during the regular season. Some of the other Under 14 Boys to watch in Shepparton are Cody Martindale of South East Cougars and Iosif Zudov from Central City who finished the year with 10 goals to his name.
