2010 State, Provisional and Metropolitan League fixtures released

The 2010 State, Provisional and Metropolitan League fixtures were released on Friday.

The season kicks off on Saturday 10th April, and round 22 concludes on 11th September with catch-up rounds scheduled for the weekend of Saturday 12th June -  which is the first week of the 2010 World Cup! Another catch-up round is also scheduled for Saturday 18th September should it be required.

Round one has produced some fantastic matches to kick off the season, none more than in State League One. St Albans, who will certainly be in the mix as title contenders come September, host State League One new boys North Geelong, in what will be an early test for the 2009 State League Two North-West Champion.

In State League Two South-East, Southern Suburbs face a stern test with the visit of Southern Stars who are fresh out of State League One, with neither team competing at this level in 2009. It should prove an interesting indication of where both clubs are at for the upcoming season.

Essendon United visit Yarraville Glory as they look to maintain their astounding record of consecutive promotions from Provisional League Three to State League Three North-West. Mornington take their bow in State League Three South-East against relegated South Springvale who will no doubt be looking to bounce back as quickly as possible back up to State League Two.

Melton kick off their season under lights as they host Hoppers Crossing in their first evening fixture of the season.

Provisional League new boys Essendon Royals find themselves facing off against Old Trinity Grammarians whilst Manningham have a tricky first match away to White Star Dandenong. In the North-West, Northern Roosters visit Youth United as they look to make their mark in Provisional League.

For the first time in 2010, round 13 will see Football Federation Victoria (FFV) clubs encouraged to get behind the Cancer Council’s “Call to Arms”, and help raise money and awareness for cancer in men. Information will be issued to the clubs at a later date on how you can participate in this worthwhile initiative.

Any club who has the incorrect venue displayed in their fixture, or have their venue unavailable for any fixtured match is asked to formally inform FFV on club letterhead at competitions@footballfedvic.com.au as soon as possible.
